Cambridge Early Years Programmes
-
Cambridge Early Year - 1
Cambridge Early Years 1 nurtures children's curiosity through play‑based learning in a warm, secure environment. Learners develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude to school while exploring the world around them through songs, stories and meaningful conversations that strengthen early language and listening skills.
Hands‑on experiences build fine and gross motor skills, coordination and body awareness, while structured play encourages sharing, cooperation and the ability to manage feelings and behaviour. Early encounters with numbers, shapes, patterns and simple problem‑solving in real‑life contexts lay the foundations for mathematical thinking, alongside creative activities in art, music, dance and role‑play that develop imagination and self‑expression.
-
Cambridge Early Year - 2
Cambridge Early Years 2 builds on Early Years 1 and prepares children confidently for primary school, with play remaining at the heart of learning. There is a strong focus on early literacy through phonological awareness, beginning phonics, story sequencing and early writing, while numeracy develops through counting, comparing quantities, simple operations and using mathematical language in everyday situations.
Learners explore the natural and social world through simple inquiries, observing and asking questions about everyday experiences. Social and emotional skills such as taking turns, working in small groups and building resilience are nurtured alongside rich creative and physical activities that support coordination, rhythm, balance and confidence. At BCM World School, these early years are where curiosity and care begin to flourish – the first step in our promise that We Make Heroes.

Cambridge Primary Stage 1
Stage 1 marks the transition into primary schooling with a broad, engaging curriculum that develops key skills in English, Mathematics and Science through practical activities. In English, learners secure phonics, early reading comprehension, basic sentence writing and everyday vocabulary, while Mathematics focuses on understanding numbers to at least 100, simple addition and subtraction, basic shapes, time and measurement through concrete materials.
Science and Environmental Studies encourage children to observe plants, animals, weather and materials using simple questions and hands‑on exploration. Integrated subjects such as Art, Music, Physical Education and ICT build creativity, confidence and early digital awareness, supporting well‑rounded development.
-
Cambridge Primary Stage - 2 (Grade-1)
Stage 2 strengthens foundational skills and encourages learners to become more independent and reflective, with reading, writing and problem‑solving becoming more secure and fluent. In English, children encounter more varied texts, improve comprehension, expand sentences and use basic punctuation correctly, while Mathematics develops fluency with addition and subtraction, introduces multiplication and division, money, simple fractions and data handling.
Science explores living things, materials and forces through simple investigations using predictions and observations. Continued development in Art, Music, PE and ICT emphasises teamwork, creativity and safe use of technology, allowing each learner to grow in confidence as an active member of the classroom community.
-
Cambridge Primary Stage - 3-6
Stages 3–6 gradually increase challenge and prepare learners for Cambridge Primary Checkpoint and the next phase of the Cambridge Pathway. In English, pupils work with a wider range of fiction and non‑fiction, develop paragraph writing, strengthen spelling and vocabulary, and progress towards confident, accurate writing for different purposes and audiences, with critical response to texts and effective speaking and listening by Stage 6.
Mathematics moves from secure multiplication facts and fractions to confident use of all four operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebraic thinking and data interpretation, with learners tackling increasingly complex problems and explaining their reasoning. Science progresses from human body systems, habitats and states of matter to more systematic inquiry into electricity, sound, forces, properties of materials, Earth and space, with emphasis on fair testing and drawing conclusions from evidence.
As a Cambridge school in Ludhiana, BCM World School combines this globally benchmarked curriculum with a values‑driven environment where academic rigour goes hand‑in‑hand with resilience, empathy and leadership. In every classroom, learners are encouraged to think deeply, act responsibly and grow into future‑ready citizens – staying true to our belief that We Make Heroes.
